DESCRIPTION:
APW - Ball Hamilton, Official Standard, Grade 998 Elinvar, 23J, 16S, white gold-filled OF original Ball Official RR Standard stirrup bow case with pattern engraving to rear, white enamel SS dial, SW-LS, mono-metallic balance with blued Elinvar hairspring, fully capped lever escapement, jeweled barrel arbor, bull's-eye pattern nickel damascene, s#B649795. The 998 Elinvar had a total production of 2700 made and was produced between 1939 and 1942. From the collection of Charlie Winters.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, plates with typical scattered fine to micro-fine scratches, some marring to the escape wheel jewel setting, mild oxide to regulator assembly and some small oxide spots to winding wheels; virtually flawless dial with very small scuff at edge under bezel at 9:30; fine hands with oxide; case shows very light wear, no dents or dings, reduced engraving detail; tight bow with areas of wear to brass, crown shows light wear; plastic crystal with some fine scratches and glue visible around its seat.
